• Writers needed for New Catholic Evangelization Ministry “Saint Connection:” If a Catholic saint like St. Francis of Assisi or St .Therese of Lisieux could send text messages to your phone, what would they say? If each text told you a little about themselves and encouraged you to live a life of faith to God, would you read them? Saint Connection is a New Evangelization ministry looking for Catholic writers who can enter into the hearts and minds of popular Catholic saints, and create first-person text messages. Each Saint’s story will consist of approximately 20-30 text messages with the standard 160 characters per text. We will pay approximately $200 / saint story and give credit and recognition to each creative writers on each saint’s page on our website www.saintconnection.com. Our texting service is already working on a trial basis and will launch publicly at the end of 2012. We just need more exiting stories and many stories are there to be written. We are looking for writers who have gifts in writing spiritual poetry, colorful action screenplays, and creative religious fiction. • Angoor Press is creating a new journal for Christian poets and writers called Phlox Share. Submissions to this new journal must not have been previously published and must be submitted by the original author, photographer or artist, that is the legal copyright owner. Current payment is a free copy of the journal. Submissions must be made through http://www.angoorpress.submittable.com/submit

• Dappled Things is seeking submissions for its Catholic literary magazine. Dappled Things raises the question of what Catholic literature is in the first place. Rather than give you a pat answer, we invite you as a contributor to help us explore that question. • Grassic Short Novel Prize is currently looking for short novel manuscripts. Word limit 30K to 70K words. Entry fee is $25. Winner receives $500 and publication by Evening Street Press. • Mixed Fruit is a quarterly literary magazine running a poetry contest with no fee to enter, deadline November 15. They’re also still running a B-Movie Edition contest for the WORST poetry or short fiction you can write, deadline October 1. • Unboxed Books is seeking submissions of novels or short story collections from all writers, from the unknown to the well-known.
